The Mungerannie station and hotel sits on the Birdsville track and is an important watering hole, in many senses of the word, in this often parched landscape. A huge storm was about to break and we were not that far from the hotel. Our swags were on the roof and needed to be covered. We were running for Mungerannie alright! But still Mike stopped to get the photo.
We made it just as the first drops started, got the swags under cover and waited out the storm. An hour later it was blue skies and a swim in the artesian spring. But ah! The smell of rain on the parched earth.
